Easy Pass Hike sounds like it should be a piece of cake, on the map it is only 3.7 miles each way. That isn’t to bad. However it does gain in elevation the whole journey but the majority happens at the end, up several switch backs along a talus slope filled with pika. I LOVE PIKA!!!! The day we did the hike the weather was perfect. It wasn’t hot and wasn’t cold. Although it was probably warmer then it was cool, there was a nice breeze in the air so it kept me quite comfortable even as I worked up a little sweat hiking up the switch backs. The trail starts in the woods, wandering up and over several man made bridges and even crossing a creek. After about 2 miles or so it opens up and you can see the pass you will soon concur. Lot’s of flowers and bees fill this meadow. Once you make it to the top you can hike along the ridge for some epic views of the Fisher Basin, Logan Peak and the glaciers that reside on it (Banded Glacier, as well as Douglas). In the far distance you can see the Kilwatee glacier as well. You can’t go to far along the ridge before you will start the dozens of switch backs dropping down into the Fisher Basin. We did not go that far. That hike was enough for the day and we still needed to head home. We saw one Marmot and several Pikas on this trail. I hope to return this Fall when the Lark are changing colors.

Pika on the path! I don’t know what it is but they are so my favorite!
